T-mobile to offer an iPhone upgrade to UK spenders

T-mobile has recently started to offer the iPhone upgrade in the UK. According to the firm insiders from the Merthyr call centre, two separate sources have contacted V3.co.uk, both claiming that T-mobile was testing limited stock of the iPhone 3G. A number of units have been purchased by T-mobile from Germany and they will start offering an upgrade to UK customers from the 30th of July.

Only some selected T-mobile call centre operators have been authorised to provide the upgrade which has to meet severe criteria to quality, which includes being a heavy mobile user. A note from the source states that T-mobile needs to reduce the turnover to 20 per cent from 27 per cent, which would still put T-mobile many percentage points higher than O2.

In order to stop the customer turnover, T-mobile has planned to introduce special deals on the G2 Touch (HTC Hero) and the iPhone. The note continues that this would be restricted to customers who want to move to Flext 2009 plan or to the ones who are lucky enough to go through to a ‘Save Desk’ member at Merthyr.
