The smartphone battle for supremacy really has started to hot up now in the UK following the release by Apple of its new iPhone 4 device. In response to this arrival, mobile operator T-Mobile has decided to slash the price on its HTC Desire handset.
T-Mobile will eventually be able to offer the iPhone 4, but in a bid to ensure it remains competitive for the time being, the provider has reduced the price on its popular HTC smartphone.
The attempt to make up the minds of customers in opting for this model (the HTC Desire will be free on a £30 month contract – £5 cheaper than before) over the iPhone 4, should see many smartphone users looking for a good deal to consider T-Mobile.
With this offer you get 600 minutes plus unlimited texts and usage of the internet when you opt for the HTC Desire, which is a pretty impressive handset anyway, and certainly can compete with Apple’s new creation. The only real drawback to the Desire is the lack of memory on the handset (512MB), although with a microSD card you can bring it up to a more than reasonable 32GB.
With recent news of the iPhone 4 currently experiencing reception problems, it certainly makes the HTC Desire a more reliable phone and a worthy contender, however I wonder if the slash in prices will affect people buying the HTC Desire over the iPhone 4?
There is most definitely plenty of choice available these days, for both personal and business phone users. As mobile providers try to remain competitive, you should start to see a variety of excellent deals on the latest smartphone handsets.
