As the name suggests, smartphones are very smart. Basically, smartphones are mobile phones with advanced functions like full email and internet access, QWERTY keyboard and Mobile Office Suite. While these new generation smartphones are essential tools for businessmen, they are becoming increasingly popular with mobile phone users. The increasing popularity of smartphones is mainly due to the fact that they are multipurpose devices.

The major features of smartphones include a calendar, world clock, notepad, address book and ability to send and receive emails. The majority of smartphones today boast a touch screen or slide out QWERTY keyboard. Smartphones also have numerous connectivity options that let you connect with any computer, or to the internet from anywhere.

Some of the popular mobile operating systems include Symbian OS, Windows Mobile OS, BlackBerry OS, Apple iPhone OS, Linux, Google Android OS and Palm webOS. Presently, smartphones have acquired 50 percent of the mobile market. Using a smartphone, you can create, view and edit your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and GPRS etc. are some connectivity options that allow you access to the internet from anywhere while on the move. Smartphones can also be termed as scaled down versions of laptops. With a smartphone, you will not only be able to listen to your favourite music, but watch videos as well as play games. Smartphones also feature a built-in GPS receiver, a high resolution mega pixel camera to click photos and many more features.
